Swimming in SI

I have subscription to Sports Illustrated. I am guy. But, the swimsuit edition is my least favorite edition every year, but my sister and mother flock to it and enjoy it greatly. I think they see it not as degrading but as a fashion magazine. I prefer to read the sports articles, where as my mom and sister prefer to ogle at the models and their swimsuits. I would say this is defiantly due to the way that we were socialized as youths and our interests. I am not offended by the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated but I do think it is a good thing to diversify the body shape of the models to help with the self concept of female readers. I also find those who are offended by the swimsuit edition to be hyper-sensitive to the media and if they are subscribers they should utilize that Sports Illustrated allows you top opt out of the swimsuit edition and they will add an additional issue to the end of your twelve month subscription to make up for the lost issue.

Dialect

I have a buddy Josh, he's an Airman from Kentucky. The main thing with Josh is he is really country. He's a redneck. Which means he speaks a bit different. He says Worsh instead of wash, he says ice box instead of fridge and thats not even mentioning his accent. That brings me to what I notice from myself when conversing with him, I start to speak with a more "country" accent and he speaks more like I do. This leads me to conclude that we make changes to the way we speak to try to be more like those we are conversing with.

Sports vs Ganes

The issue with modern sports is that sports are no longer games, its business and one that, from its three largest US leagues (NFL, MLB AND NBA), made an excess of twenty-five Billion dollars last year. Now all that young athletes think about is their future, scholarships and beyond, and is it there fault? No. Their parents? Only partly. It's societies. It is society that pressures young people into over specifing into one sports, instead of just having fun and enjoying their childhood. I fondly remember looking back at my childhood and think of the numerous basketball games, wrestling matches and numerous games we made up as kids and I don't think any other generation, both due to society and technology, will have a similar experience.

Driving

I was driving today and I got to thinking, what does the car a person drive say about them? I drive a truck it runs well but it is a bit older, and I'd say it fits me well. So I decided to further the idea: what does the kind of car a person drive say about them?  Well lets apply stereotypes to the this: Rednecks drive trucks, well I drive a truck and I wouldn't say I'm a redneck but I do have some of the cultural typical tendencies associated with the stereotype. So then I thought of my mom and friends and of other driver I know, my mom drives a mommobile of a SUV, my friends for the most part drive trucks, my sister drives a small little thing, so delved deeper and deeper into the idea, Does your car determine who you are? The only factor I found that prevents the car from matching the person is money.
Now money that's a fun topic for another time.

I am a pretty simple person, there isn't a whole lot to me. I play football, i study a bit and just started working at NAPA. My dad died going on 5 years ago, and it was especially hard on my mom and sister. Its weird to grow up in an instant.
